Suddenly stepping into the spotlight can be a huge change for any fresh face on the tennis circuit. No one knows that better than Naomi Osaka who was shot straight into tennis super stardom after winning the 2018 US Open and 2019 Australian Open, cementing her place as one of the best players in the world.
Yet, fans never see what's going on behind the scenes, and after losing in the first round of Wimbledon, Osaka has come out revealing her thoughts on the season so far. The Japanese player admitted on Instagram to not having as much fun since winning the Australian Open, putting too much "pressure" on "wins" instead of focusing on the game.
Yet even through her struggles, she is still the same Naomi that fans have come to love.
Kinda convinced there’s no greater joy then when a girl comes up outta nowhere and tells you you’re pretty. I started blushing and stammering Lmao. I was so flustered. Made my day though, thank you ????❤️☺️????

The 21-year-old has a supportive team by her side, and a boyfriend. Rapper YBN Cordae confirmed their relationship on the Hot 97 radio show, saying they've been dating for a while (though it sounds like it started after the US Open, so "a while" in millennial terms). YBN Cordae was also corned by TMZ and asked if Osaka lets him win at tennis (the answer is no).
Osaka has posted pictures on Instagram, one with YBN Cordae and one of his latest album.
So I didn’t think I was going to do this cause I didn’t want to be “that” person, but I’ve been listening to the album on repeat since it dropped so I might be in my feels... this is honestly one of the best albums I’ve heard in a while and for this to be his debut album ???????? you can obviously trust my completely unbiased opinion hahaha. So anyways this is a “I’m proud of you” post, and also a “you guys should listen to the album” post ????
The world No. 2 is headlining the Rogers Cup this week in Toronto, hoping to surpass her best performance in 2017 where she reached the round of 16. She's looking for a fresh start after falling in the first round of Wimbledon. She hasn't reached a quarterfinal round since Rome in May.
Osaka is the No. 2 seed at the WTA Premier event (behind world No. 1 Ashleigh Barty) and has a bye into the second round.
