Stephens introduces Air Jordans to the court

The year 1993 was a very prominent year for basketball legend Michael Jordan as he took championship No. 3 home, but it was also the year a Grand Slam champion was born.

Just like Jordan, Sloane Stephens has worked tirelessly on her game, having suffered through injuries before capturing the 2017 US Open ranked No. 83.

The 26-year-old posed for a few photos for the new Air Jordan Aqua collection.

Having always worn Air Jordans, Stephens's favorite edition is the VIII, which makes sense since the shoe debuted—in aqua—the year she was born.

The NikeCourt athlete will bring the aqua color palette into the tennis world this summer—she will wear the Nike Air Zoom Zero on-court and the Aqua Jordan Air Latitude 720 off it.

Stephens will be competing at the upcoming Citi Open in D.C. She won the title last in 2015, ousting Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the final.
