Losing in the final of a tournament is one of the hardest challenges in the sport, especially because players are expected to stay on court for the trophy ceremonies before getting to decompress in private.

With the win, Garcia captured her seventh career WTA title, while Vekic was seeking her third, and first since Nottingham in 2017. There's still plenty of good news for the Croatian: She's on the cusp of the Top 20 for the first time as the grass season picks up speed.

Garcia is in Mallorca this week, while Vekic is playing in Birmingham.
