It feels like a long time since Roger Federer has graced the clay courts of Roland Garros with his presence, and that's because, in tennis terms, four years is forever. Since winning the tournament in 2009, many fans have felt like the former world No. 1 has moved on, but Federer is back in Paris for the first time since 2015.

"Personally, for me, I'm again very happy to be back," he said. "Maybe a tiny bit more, you know, because I have missed the last three editions, and when you miss something in life, you're happy to be back there again for me, and this is the case this year. I'm really happy to be back in Paris."

While most don't consider him to be a sure thing for the title, or even a big contender, his quarterfinal performances in Madrid and Rome suggest that perhaps the Swiss isn't as rusty on clay as you'd expect. He grew up on the surface after all.

How he does this fortnight is up in the air because, of course, anything can happen when Federer puts his mind to something. He opens against Italy's Lorenzo Sonego.
