Fans may feel safe in the stands, but, unless you're in the rafters, a stray ball can come flying in at any moment. That's what happened to a little girl during Alexander Zverev's doubles match at the Italian Open.
In the middle of the first set, the world No. 5 produced a smash to win the point, but also sent the ball flying into the girl's face, who was sitting in the first row of the stands. Zverev looked concerned at first before continuing play. Eventually, he walked over to the girl and tied a headband around her forehand as an apology and gift.
Unfortunately, his good karma didn't produce a win. He and his brother, Mischa Zverev, lost in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4, to Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus. Zverev then dropped his first singles match to Matteo Berrettini.
