Bianca Andreescu has been the biggest breakout star in the first part of 2019, winning 31 of her first 34 matches—and the Indian Wells title—before retiring from the fourth round of Miami.

Out with a "small shoulder tear," the 18-year-old hasn't played a tournament since, and she's additionally withdrawn from the Premier Mandatory in Madrid.

But the Canadian has been through challenging times in her career before, and she's prepared and motivated to power through them again, as she outlined on Noah Rubin's Behind The Racquet.

In her post, Andreescu recounted the time she spent, after successes in 2017 at Wimbledon and in Washington, bogged down by injuries and the pressure to live up to past results.

"I was having difficulty with the relationships in my life," Andreescu said, "including the one with myself."

She then credited an "awakening" with changing her mindset and, subsequently, her results, which have been incredible since.

"The moral of my story," she added, "is that if it hadn’t been for all those bumpy moments then I wouldn’t be where I am today."

The Canadian Press reports that Andreescu was back practicing on Tuesday for the first time in five weeks.
