Count them: Over the course of that single-event highlight reel, Brown notched not one, but two, drop-shots that landed just over the net and actual bounced back over to his own side.
Brown has a reputation as a stylish shot-maker, one whose talents have taken him to major-upset glory. Even so, a 2018 back injury set him back, which has him climbing back to No. 167 in the world this week in light of the Mouratoglou Open trophy, his eighth crown at the ATP Challenger level.
Capping off his weekend with his first title since 2016, Brown didn't just deliver a series of flamboyant winners and artful strokes, his full physical arsenal, in France. He also gave one of the year's top verbal winners upon winning the title: "I'm going to have a couple beers, take a bath and stay up all night watching some TV series so that this day never ends."
We'll always have Sophia Antipolis—and the sum of that voodoo that he did. Here's hoping that Brown and Hsieh Su-Wei team up for mixed doubles at the French Open in Paris. That would be magnifique.
