Venus Williams was practically all smiles in Miami, to the point that she herself seemed surprised by her disposition even after points she lost.

She lost a lot of them, as it turned out, in her 6-3, 6-3 loss to Simona Halep in the fourth round of the Miami Open. Still, Venus was glad to knock out Daria Kasatkina, her 2018 Indian Wells semifinal vanquisher, in the previous round by a decisive 6-3, 6-1 count.

But Venus was even happier to discuss a favorite television show.

"The whole family has seen every episode of The Golden Girls," Venus told the media, when prompted, after taking out Kasatkina.

Pressed to name a favorite, she continued ruminating about the episodes themselves: "It's too tough, yeah. I'll have to think about that. We know every episode. It's hard to choose. It's just hard to choose."

The reporter, WTA's David Kane, perhaps looking for a Florida angle in asking about the titular Golden Girls, natives of the Sunshine State's fictional Shady Pines retirement community, clarified that the ask was about Venus's favorite character.

"I'm definitely Dorothy," Venus replied declaratively. (She had obviously given this some prior thought.) "I can say that I'm a Dorothy. Favorite character? They're all incredible, to be honest."

Suffice it to say, Golden Girls remains a show that, since its U.S. broadcast run in the 1980s, has held up exceedingly well over time. And the same can be said of fellow '80s output Venus.
