With Dominic Thiem beating Roger Federer in the Indian Wells final, he guaranteed the streak of no repeat champions to continue in 2019.

While Bianca Andreescu won her first career WTA Premier Mandatory at the BNP Paribas Open, she also picked up a WTA 125K Series title in Newport Beach.

The depth in both tours is evidenced by the fact that a new champion has been crowned in each of the WTA’s 12 tournaments (not counting 125K Series) and ATP’s 19 tournaments so far this season.

The victors in a loaded Miami tournament are impossible to predict.

Andreescu is unseeded in Miami and opens against her first-round Indian Wells opponent, Irina-Camelia Begu. Thiem is the No. 3 seed and has a bye.
