It was November 2018, and Kirsten Flipkens had a premonition.

Indeed, after her sometimes-foil Agnieszka Radwanska's retirement from professional tennis, she made good on her intent to take top-shot honors in a tournament, maybe in the year at large.

This was no hope and a prayer. Call it hope and a stab volley.

Quite the set-opening point, to say the least. That was after claiming the first stanza by a 7-5 score, and Flipkens made good on the opportunity overall, snagging a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 first-round victory that both players desperately needed.

And so, about four months ago, Flipkens quite literally called her shot. She gets No. 25 seed Danielle Collins in the second round this Saturday, March 9, and she will always have that highlight.
