Belinda Bencic is back.

The Swiss first announced herself to the WTA tour in 2015 when she won the Rogers Cup and ascended to No. 7 in the world in 2016. Wrist surgery set her back significantly in 2017, but she came back to win multiple ITF titles and two $125K WTA series crown.

But she had yet to full return to her former place amongst the elite and her ranking stayed outside the Top 40. After defeating Petra Kvitova in the final of Dubai, it's safe to Bencic has made her official return as a threat for the Top 10.

By a 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 scoreline, Bencic earned her first career win over Kvitova—she'd never won a set off Kvotva in three previous attempts.  The Czech congratulated Bencic on her huge week.

The 21-year-old would beat four Top-10 players in a row, all in three sets, including Aryna Sabalenka, Simona Halep, Elina Svitolina and Kvitova. Bencic' ranking has risen to No. 23, marking her first time in the Top 30 since 2016.
