In his first ATP final, 21-year-old Reilly Opelka relied on his serve, and it came through—to say the least. The 6'11" American hit a record-setting 43 aces to beat qualifier Brayden Shnur, 6-1, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (7).

The match obviously had some drama. Opelka challenged Schnur's first unreturnable serve at 7-7 in the deciding tiebreak, and it ended up being converted to an "out" call. Shnur then double faulted, and Opelka stepped up to deliver his 43rd ace to seal the title.

In his four wins last week, including an upset of top seed John Isner—in which he saved six match points—Opelka rained down a stunning 156 aces.

He heads to Delray Beach with plenty of confidence, having boosted his ranking to No. 56. Schnur, a 23-year-old from Canada, was 0-5 in career ATP matches before his New York run. He jumped almost 50 ranking spots up to No. 107.

No days off is right as Opelka plays fellow American Tennys Sandgren on Tuesday, while Schnur will take on Adrian Mannarino.
