Chris Evert paid a visit to Tennis Channel this week to discuss some big news in the game, namely Naomi Osaka's seemingly sudden split with coach Sascha Bajin. She also surprised her friend Paul Annacone, who was in the middle of commentating a match.

But back to Osaka and Bajin.

"She and Sascha train at my tennis academy. We love having them there," Evert said. "I'm sure there's a lot of speculation about different things, but maybe we should just wait and see what they have to say about it."

The news, which broke with a tweet from the world No. 1, shocked everyone in the tennis world.

Evert and Lindsay Davenport think it's a sign of the times, as players are quick to make dramatic changes to their teams since they have the luxury to do so.

"It seems like this generation they're so quick to pull the trigger and move on," Davenport said. "[There's] very few long lasting player-coach relationships."

Evert said this one was the most surprising to her of any of the splits, given their success in such a brief time.

Since hiring Bajin in late 2017, Osaka won her first title in Indian Wells followed by Grand Slams in New York and Melbourne. She rose from No. 68 all the way to No. 1.
