Madison Keys is safely through to the third round of the Australian Open looking as relaxed and confident as ever. And the world No. 17 should be—she's made the quarterfinals or better at four of the last five Grand Slams.

Melbourne is also the place of her first major breakthrough when she reached the semifinals in 2015. Keys hasn't truly been challenged yet, winning both her matches in straight sets. She'll be tested against world No. 14 Elise Mertens next. Mertens hired Keys' former coach David Taylor, while Keys is now working with Jim Madrigal.

"I think at some point we have all played someone who we used to be coached by," the 23-year-old said simply after her 6-3, 6-4 win over Anastasia Potapova.

She survived a hiccup in the second set—going down 3-1—but reflected on it positively.

"That actually is kind of the perfect test," Keys said. "When you are able to get out of that, you look back in a weird way you're thankful for that. I was really happy with how quickly I just bounced back."

Before her next match, there's time learn to little bit more about the American's talents outside of the tennis court. Did you know she can throw a mean spiral?

And that she's very into interior design? She just furnished her new home in Lake Nona, Fla.
