Making history has quickly become the norm for Stefanos Tsitsipas. The world No. 15 became the first Greek male to win an Australian Open main-draw match when he beat Matteo Berretteni, 6-7 (3) 6-4 6-3 7-6 (4) on Monday in Melbourne.

His fans are doing their part to support him:

"They try to give that energy to the player. I love the fans," Tsitsipas said. "I mean, they're a bit different than the other fans that I had in other tournaments. I do appreciate how much they care and how much they respect and love what we're doing."

The 20-year-old lost in the opening round last year to Denis Shapovalov, and lost in the qualifying in his only other appearance in Melbourne. His best Slam performance so far has been the fourth round of Wimbledon last year.

Tsitsipas has set a few records already in his young career. He became the first Greek to win an ATP title when he captured the crown in Stockholm last year. He also won the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan to close his career-best season. During his junior career, the former junior world No. 1 became the first Greek boy to win a Slam when he won the Wimbledon doubles crown.

He's also the first Greek male to ever crack the Top 100, which he did two years ago, and he's now the youngest player inside the Top 20.

Tsitsipas wasn't the only Greek to win on opening day in Melbourne. Maria Sakkari knocked out No. 22-seeded Jelena Ostapenko in three sets.

The duo just teamed up together at the Hopman Cup in Perth to start the 2019 season, where they won two of their three rubbers (over Switzerland and the United States).

Tsitsipas will take on Viktor Troicki in the next round, while Sakkari plays Australia's Astra Sharma.
