While Danielle Collins won the day with a splendid, laughing-at-herself post in the past week, Eugenie Bouchard was not about to be outdone. Far from it, even. She didn't just poke fun at herself on social media. She did so in fantastic fashion, by responding to an everyday stranger, and not on her own post but on Caroline Wozniacki's Instagram account.

(Never mind that Wozniacki enters this major event Down Under as its defending champion.) Indeed, Collins might have delivered a self-deprecating moment of social media excellence, but Bouchard just ratcheted it up a few notches.

"Not Here to Make Friends," reads Bouchard's T-shirt, worn in alighting upon Melbourne. And surely she needs none on tour—she's got herself, and that alone is rather extra. Sometimes wonderfully so, expect for the times when she's feeling "kinda bored, kinda lonely".

The Canadian was bombarded by direct messageswhen her post went viral. "I couldn't look at my DMs. It was a constant stream. It was ridiculous," she said.

Bouchard begins her Australian Open campaign against fellow on-the-rebound player Peng Shuai.
