As players' social media posts go, the 2019 season will already go down as an all-time great. The tenacious yet affable American, who shot up the rankings in a banner 2018, has certainly trained at the art of self-deprecating comedy.

Her humorous ways will score Collins points for laughs, but that's ultimately not her end goal. As the start of the Australian Open is here, she had her work cut out for her from the start in squaring off against No. 14 seed and Auckland champion Julia Goerges.

She took the German out in three tight sets, coming back from a set and 6-5 down for her first career Grand Slam win. An all-American showdown awaits fans when Collins takes on Sachia Vickery in Round 2.
