After making her Top 100 debut just last year, a teenage Sofia Kenin officially became a young American to watch. In her second tournament of 2019, the 20-year-old boosted her rising star status by defeating Anna Karolina Schmiedlova to win the Hobart title, 6-3, 6-0.

Kenin didn't drop a set on her run through the tournament, beating veteran players such as Alize Cornet and Kirsten Flipkins, as well as No. 1 seed Caroline Garcia. Her ranking jumps up to a career-high of No. 37.

The victory is actually her second title of 2019 after she teamed up with Eugenie Bouchard to win the Auckland doubles trophy.
