WATCH: Statham dives for biggest win of his career

Now that's how you lay it all out on the line. New Zealand's Rubin Statham scored the biggest upset of his life over world No. 25 Hyeon Chung in Auckland.

Statham, a wild card entry ranked No. 360, stunned last year's Australian Open semifinalist, 7-5, 6-3 with some diving theatrics along the way. The dive volley winner—which resulted in a bleeding hand injury—came after Statham had clawed back from 5-1 down. He would win the next three games to seal the set.

The 31-year-old has spent most of his career on the ITF and ATP Challenger circuits, reaching a career-high ranking of No. 279 in 2013.

The home favorite will take on Jan-Lennard Struff in the second round as he tries to become the first Kiwi to reach an ATP quarterfinal since 1999.
