As for sanctioned matches, 2018 made for a stop-start campaign for Andy Murray. That said, he did excel splendidly in the Instagram game as he whiled away time due to injury. In those months when he was outside the bounds of the court, Murray stepped up his social-media presence on that platform, forsaking Twitter (where he hasn't posted since early 2018) in favor of droll, visually driven posts.

He even managed to induce chuckles, for himself and others, in his appraisal of his 2018 season writ large.

In self-deprecating fashion, Murray actually may be best on Instagram among all active ATP and WTA pros. It's effortless but so effective how he makes social-media magic out of the mundane. Time will tell whether he shirks his Instagram duties in favor of match play week in, week out.
