Former world No. 5 Tommy Robredo has been honored for his foundation work and invested interest in promoting wheelchair tennis. The Spaniard was given the 2018 Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award during the ATP Finals in London.

“I’m very happy with the ATP. I wasn’t expecting that prize,” Robredo told the ATP. “What I’m doing, I’m doing it because I really like. I’m happy and it gives us the power to keep working.”

In honor of the memory of his friend, Robredo created the Santi Silvas Open in 2009. It's an ITF wheelchair tennis tournament held every summer in Spain. He started the Tommy Robredo Foundation with help from the contacts and notes Santi left behind.
