Before each of his matches, noted basketball fan Nick Kyrgios likes to walk out onto the court wearing his basketball shoes before changing into his tennis ones. It's an odd move, but lots of tennis players have quirks.

Kyrgios' system broke down, however, in Cincinnati this year, when he looked into his bag for his tennis shoes, only to realize he'd forgotten them in the locker room.

The shoes made their way to the court eventually, and Kyrgios scraped by in the match, defeating Denis Kudla 6-7 (2), 7-5, 7-6 (9). He later scored another three-set win, against Borna Coric, before going down in three to Juan Martin del Potro.

Despite starting 2018 with a title in Brisbane, Kyrgios finished the season a disappointing No. 35 after closing shop a couple of weeks early.

But, at least according to his Instagram, he has his eyes set on next year. Maybe he'll even bring extra tennis shoes.
