Every player at Australia's Brisbane International in January looks to get their season off to a solid start.

But, unfortunately for Denis Shapovalov, things went wrong before he even got to step onto the court—when the stadium announcer butchered his name to the point that it was unrecognizable:

The Canadian recovered just fine, though, going on to defeat Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Australian Open, and putting together a consistent first full season on the ATP Tour. Over the course of the year, Shapovalov would bring his ranking from No. 51 to No. 27.

Maybe next time they'll remember his name.
