With the 2018 season over, all eyes are on next year and wondering who will be the player to take the WTA by storm. This year saw three first-time Grand slam winners: Caroline Wozniacki, Simona Halep and Naomi Osaka. With the future looking bright for the women, WTA legends sat down to discuss where they thought the tour will go from here.

"I think to have three first-time Grand Slam winners is pretty awesome," said Lindsey Davenport, former world No. 1. "It's so emotional because you work so hard and seeing the payoff is great."

The American knows all about winning Grand Slam titles, claiming three during her career and battling through a rivalry with fellow American Venus Williams, who's still a contender in 2019.

Christ Evert also weighed in, saying that the future of the game will be ruled by fresh faces rather than past dominant players, such as Serena Williams.

"There's not one dominating player, like we saw that with Serena," Evert said. "And that was great at the time, but now it's a new era and I kind of like the different look of not knowing, the surprise element."
