Dominika Cibulkova has won the Slovak Tennis Player of the Year award for the record eighth time in her career.

The 29-year-old has also been recognized as the fan favorite. Known for her fighting spirit and "pome" cheer—which means “come on” in her native tongue—the Slovakian plays each match, and point, with enormous energy. It's one of the many reasons she's so popular.

Cibulkova just spent a big chunk of her offseason vacationing in the Maldives and then shooting in Wuhan for her role in Li Na’s biopic.
