After his heartbreaking defeat in the Davis Cup final two years ago to Argentina, Marin Cilic made sure to take home the title this time around. The world No. 7 took no prisoners, dismantling Lucas Pouille in straight sets on Sunday, to give his home country the 3-1 victory over France.

It was an impressive clinching of the tie after Cilic and Borna Coric defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Jeremy Chardy, respectively, on Saturday. Croatia didn't drop a set in singles.

Cilic celebrated with his team after the match before being given a hug by his country's president, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic. This is Croatia's second Davis Cup trophy after winning it back in 2005.

France's captain, Yannick Noah, said the Croatian's team effort was too great to defeat, saying "They destroyed us...They did not give us a single break."

After Cilic's win, both teams decided to not play the fifth match between Tsonga and Coric. The 2018 Davis Cup season is the last in history to be played with the old format thanks to huge new changes in place for 2019.
