Dominika Cibulkova just revealed she is filming in Wuhan for a role in the upcoming movie on Li Na's life and career.

Produced by award-winning director Peter Chan, Li’s autobiographical film began its production in October. Its release was originally scheduled for 2016.

“Same, same but just NOT the same,” Cibulkova wrote in an Instagram post. “So excited and proud to be invited to play my part in an upcoming movie about Li Na. Two days of filming in Wuhan right now is surreal and magical as it brings back so many memories. I truly miss you on tour my friend (even though I lost to you every single time!).”

Li and Cibulkova were friends during their shared time on the WTA tour, though Li led 7-0 in their career meetings. Their most memorable meeting, which is being re-enacted for the biopic, was the 2014 Australian Open final when Li beat the Slovakian to win the second Grand Slam of her career.

Cibulkova hasn't reached a major final since then, but is still ranked inside the Top 30 at No. 25. The Chinese 36-year-old retired just nine months after winning in Melbourne, but has continued to stay very involved in tennis. She was just nominated for the Class of 2019 International Tennis Hall of Fame, winning crucial bonus points after fan voting.
