Few things are as fascinating as GOATs talking GOATs.

Inan interview in the UK's Sunday Times, Roger Federer addresses topics including his marriage and family life, as well as Serena Williams, touching on her exchanges with chair umpire Carlos Ramos in the US Open final and her controversial catsuit from the French Open.

Of Serena's showdown with Ramos, Federer said, "I feel like Serena should have walked away. She did, but she went too far. She should have walked earlier. It's a little bit excusable. The umpire maybe should not have pushed her there. It's unfortunate but an incredible case study."

Indeed, a case that will be studied for months, even years—one that hopefully does not outshine the fact that on September 9, 2018, a proverbial star was born. Naomi Osaka took it to Serena in her first-ever major final and then took the trophy.

He then spoke on the banned catsuit that Serena sported–for preventative medical reasons, per her–at Roland Garros in May. He defended his fellow GOAT, paired with expressing his support for Alize Cornet, who was initially given a code violation in the same event for taking off her top fleetingly to wear it correctly.

"What was the problem with taking the T-shirt off or the catsuit? Serena has worn crazier stuff in the past" he said. "Guys have worn crazier stuff. For me, it was a bit of nonsense. Just chill out for a second. I was totally on the women's side. Leave them alone."

Federer is currently the No. 2 seed at the ATP Finals in London, behind Novak Djokovic. The Swiss has reigned over the season-concluding event six times, although not since 2011, dropping his past three appearances in its championship round to Djokovic.
