Tiafoe snakes hot shot past Mahut in Paris win

This season, Frances Tiafoe has established himself as a force on the ATP tour, but more than that, he's turning out to be one of the most reliable hot-shot makers. He's featured regularly in hot shot clips, and this week in Paris, he's already made the cut with a slick passing shot against one of the best doubles players in the world, Nicolas Mahut.

Making the angle forehand winner even more impressive is the fact that Mahut has quite a reach, standing at 6'3". Tiafoe advanced, 7-6 (1), 6-2 to set up a showdown against No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev.

With the win over Mahut, the world No. 44 snapped a four-match losing streak. Since losing in the second round of the US Open to fellow youngster Alex De Minaur, the 20-year-old had gone 1-6 (including two Davis Cup matches).

Things may be turning for the American just in time for the end of the year, or Zverev might stop him on Wednesday.
