Kiki Bertens just became the first Dutchwoman to be ranked inside of the Top 10 in over 20 years. The last woman from her nation to achieve the feat was Brenda Schultz-Mccarthy back in 1996.

The 26-year-old Bertens had a breakthrough season, which included winning Charleston, reaching the final in Madrid and then capturing the biggest title of her career in Cincinnati where she defeated four Top 10 players. She just added her seventh career title in Seoul last month.

For the first time in her career, Bertens has a chance to qualify for the WTA Finals, which begins on October 21.

Of the five players now vying for the three remaining spots, she currently sits at No. 9 in the Race to Singapore, just behind Karolina Pliskova. Sloane Stephens, Elina Svitolina and Aryna Sabalenka are also in contention.

The world No. 10-ranked Bertens will compete in Linz and Moscow.
