After starting the year ranked a modest No. 68, Naomi Osaka has become the biggest breakout star of 2018.

In March, she won her first WTA title and then went on to defeat Serena Williams in the US Open final.  Osaka has carried her momentum into the Asian swing, reaching a career-high ranking of No. 4 this week—which ties her with the best-ever Asian player in history, Kei Nishikori and the highest-ever ranked Japanese woman Kimiko Date. She's not done yet, as her debut at the WTA Finals in Singapore is looming.
