Qualifier Monica Puig has saved her best game for the last part of 2018. Including qualifying rounds, the Puerto Rican has now won 14 of her last 17 matches.

Her latest win was a 7-6 (10), 7-5 upset over world No. 2 Caroline Wozniacki to reach her first WTA Premier 5 quarterfinal in Wuhan.

The world No. 51-ranked Puig has had her best runs from qualifying. She reached the semifinals in New Haven as a qualifier and has now won five matches in a row in Wuhan.

There are zero Top 10 players left in the draw at the Wuhan Open with Ashleigh Barty ousting No. 3 seed Angelique Kerber and Katerina Siniakova taking out No. 4 seed Garbine Muguruza.

The title is very much up for grabs with No. 16-seeded Barty the highest ranked player remaining in the quarterfinals. Puig hasn't won a title since claiming a gold medal at the Olympic Games in 2016. She will play China's Qiang Wang for a spot in the semifinals.
