After the Laver Cup, honorary Illinois resident Kevin Anderson stuck around in Chicago for a while to catch a Cubs game, where he got to throw out the first pitch.

Anderson is a legend of University of Illinois tennis, having won the NCAA doubles championship in 2006. On Saturday, he was inducted into the Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame.

Anderson's wife, Kelsey, played for the school's golf team.

"When I saw it [the Laver Cup] was in Chicago, I was really excited about that," Anderson said. "Obviously spent a lot of time here, University of Illinois, couple hours south. My wife's family is from the suburbs. I come back here two, three times a year."

Of course, Anderson's dog, Lady Kady Anderson, made an appearance as well.

Anderson was the highest-ranked player on Team World, and the only one to win a singles match—he beat Novak Djokovic in a deciding match tiebreak. He also defeated Djokovic and Roger Federer in Day 1 doubles, alongside Jack Sock.
