CHICAGO—There's nothing more fun than playing on the same team as your friends. Just ask Jack Sock and Nick Kyrgios, who are representing Team World this weekend for the Laver Cup.

The dynamic duo were teammates for last year's Laver Cup, and have played doubles together, winning a title in Lyon this year. Their friendship is no secret, and it's adding to the buzz at the United Center.

Now they're back together again, though the first doubles match of the Laver Cup will see Sock suit up alongside Kevin Anderson against titans Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic on Friday night.

"Even though we're the home team, I'm sure they will have a lot of fans cheering for them while they are playing together," Sock said. "As a half-court specialist, I trust my abilities out there."

Though Sock has turned into one of the best doubles players in the game, winning both Wimbledon and the US Open with Mike Bryan, he's still set on getting more out of his singles career. The world No. 17-ranked American will be defending his title in Paris this fall. He'll be playing singles during the day session against Kyle Edmund.

Kyrgios, not on the docket for Friday's schedule, has had injuries turn what started out as an excellent season see some lows. This weekend, he's all in and willing to do anything for the team. The 23-year-old lost a heartbreaking deciding tiebreak against Federer last year to allow Team Europe to clinch the inaugural Laver Cup.

"Last year was heartbreaking," Kyrgios said. "I'm going to do everything I can, and if someone needs me to be out there while they are practicing, picking up balls, anything like that, I'll be doing that. I will do everything for the team this week."
