US Open champion Naomi Osaka rises to No. 7 in the world after her incredible fortnight, marking her first time inside the Top 10.
So there’s been a lot going on but I just want to say, I was grateful to have the opportunity to play on that stage yesterday. Thank you ❤️ pic.twitter.com/utiEKJF8NN— NaomiOsaka大坂なおみ (@Naomi_Osaka_) September 9, 2018
The 20-year-old scored her most impressive win of the tournament over Serena Williams in the final, 6-2, 6-4.
She's the first Japanese player to ever win a major title, and the youngest US Open champion since Maria Sharapova in 2006. It marks her second career WTA title after winning Indian Wells in March.
