NEW YORK—Naomi Osaka burst into her first career Grand Slam semifinal by making a statement. She lost just two games to Lesia Tsurenko on Wednesday, and has dropped just one set this fortnight.

Another dominating force in the women's draw has been Serena Williams, who closed out the first Top-10 win of her comeback over Karolina Pliskova. Williams and Osaka could face off in the final, with Williams seeking her 24th Grand Slam.

The men's draw has seen a lot more drama with Rafael Nadal and Dominic Thiem putting together the match of the US Open. Though Thiem took it to Nadal, it was the top seed prevailing in a fifth-set tiebreak to set up a semifinal clash with Juan Martin del Potro.
