Maria Sharapova loves being under the spotlight. In fact, when playing in Arthur Ashe Stadium at the US Open, the Russian is 22-0, including her most recent victory over Jelena Ostapenko in the third round, 6-3, 6-2.

The champion in 2006, the closest Sharapova has come to winning a second title in New York was in 2012 when she reached the semifinals. Despite not playing in the 2015 and 2016 US Open, Sharapova is flying through the tournament this year, winning all her matches in straight sets.

She’s been flying under the radar, perhaps because of her unpredictable results since returning last year.

The five-time Grand Slam champion is into the second week, and will have a Labor Day battle against Carla Suarez Navarro. If she wins, it will be the first time in six years that Sharapova has reached the quarterfinals.
