NEW YORK—The two top seeds on the men's side at the US Open have eased in to the fourth round. The women, on the other hand, lost both Simona Halep and Caroline Wozniacki early.

No. 2 seed Roger Federer eased past Nick Kyrgios, 6-4, 6-1, 7-5 on Saturday. The match was a bit of a disappointment after the two had played tiebreaks in eight of their nine last sets.

No. 1 seed Rafael Nadal, meanwhile, had his first challenge in youngster Karen Khachanov. After dropping the first set, he fought back to win the match in four.

The women's draw saw another top seed tumble out when No. 4 seed Angelique Kerber lost to former Australian Open finalist Dominic Cibulkova, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Cibulkova will have her hands full with defending finalist Madison Keys in the fourth round.
