The 30th showdown between the Williams sisters was, justifiably, the most anticipated event of the US Open so far. With two legends facing off decades into their respective careers, and both still serious contenders, it was pretty much guaranteed to be a spectacle.

Even though their matches sometimes fall flat, like this one did, the mere significance of Serena and Venus Williams sharing a court is always something special.

On Friday night, the something special was the Serena show. With 10 aces, 34 winners and four breaks of Venus' serve, it was one of the most dominant performances Serena has put on in a long time. The younger sister would win the match 6-1, 6-2 in 72 minutes.

"I think it's the best match she's ever played against me. I don't think I did a lot wrong. She just did everything right," Venus said. "She played untouchable tennis."

As Steve Tignor pointed out, "untouchable" wasn't an exaggeration. Venus, quite literally, often couldn't touch the ball.

Still, playing her best tennis didn't make the match enjoyable for Serena.

"It feels good for the match to be over with," Serena said. "Win or lose, it just feels good that that's done."

The rest of the field has to be worried by what it just saw. In the round of 16, Serena plays Kaia Kanepi, who, in the very beginning of the tournament, unseated No. 1 seed Simona Halep in straight sets.
