NEW YORK—Serena and Venus Williams are set to clash in the third round of the US Open on Friday night. The sisters have a rich history with their home Slam, starting with youngster sister Serena winning her first major in 1999.
"Unfortunately and fortunately we have to play each other," Serena said. "We make each other better. We bring out the best when we play each other."
Now, she's on the hunt for Grand Slam No. 24, and her sister may stop her. The last time they played was in Indian Wells with Venus winning in straight sets. This will mark their 30th career meeting against each other.
