Serena declares "mama said knock you out" in new ad

"Mama said knock you out." It's a song with lyrics that Serena Williams delivers soothingly in a poignant new spot for partner Chase with her nearly one–year-old daughter Olympia

With lines such as "Don't ever compare me to the rest/ that'll all get sliced and diced," the viewer is left to wonder whether such a song as LL Cool J's "Mama Said Knock You Out" provides for Williams an allusion to sending her young daughter off to precious sleep or dispatching her foes in Grand Slam matches.

The answer: both. It's a brilliant ad.

A six-time singles winner in New York, Williams last won big in the Big Apple in 2014. Williams kicks off her 2018 US Open campaign on Monday night against Poland's Magda Linette.
