Day 3 of US Open qualifying saw Canadians and young guns make a final push toward the main draw.

Former world No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard marched on in her impressive qualifying trek by dominating Ekaterine Gorgodze, 6-1, 6-2.

Felow Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime knocked off American Chris Eubanks in a competitive 7-6, 6-2 affair.

Russian youngster Sofya Zhuk moved into the final round of qualifying with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 victory over Lesley Kerkhove.

Another rising young Russian, Anastasia Potapova handled the up-and-down nature of her opponent to defeat Bojana Jovanovski.

Like Zhuk and Potapova, Brit Katie Swan was also a top junior and she's now one match away from the main draw. The teenager defeated Nao Hibino, 6,1 6-4.

And one more Canadian made a splash. Francoise Abanda came out on top in straight sets over Brazilian Beatriz Haddad Maia.

The final day of US Open qualifying action is set for Friday with the winners advancing to the main draw, which begins on Monday.
