On Sunday, it will be a battle between a Canadian Open veteran and a newcomer to the final when Simona Halep takes on Sloane Stephens.

The Romanian has been in this situation before, finishing runner-up to Belinda Bencic in 2015 and then winning the title in 2016. Stephens came close in 2017, falling in the semifinals to Caroline Wozniacki. The American has already won one Premier Mandatory tournament this yea in Miami, and is looking to add one more to her collection.
