Mackenzie McDonald, who only just turned pro in 2016, had Andy Murray on the ropes during his first-round match at the Citi Open, late into the night on Monday. From left to right, the American ran him ragged, only to apparently mess up on a putaway volley by putting his racquet over the other side of the net.

The point came at a critical junction, 5-5 in the third set. The umpire, Arnaud Gabas, immediately gave the point to Murray, securing a break point opportunity for the Brit. McDonald promplty exploded, screaming at the umpire, but there was little he could do.

Murray would eventually take down the younger American, 3-6, 6-4, 7-5, securing a place in the second round against Kyle Edmund.
