There are not many traditions more quintessential to Wimbledon than the Queue, the time-honored British tradition of standing in line.

Unlike any other modern sporting event, Wimbledon still reserves a large portion of each day’s tickets for queuers, with 500 on each show court available the morning of play for those in line.

With defending champion Roger Federer opening Monday’s Centre Court play as per tradition, the 20-time Grand Slam winner’s legions of fans have already begun queueing for a chance to see their hero on the game’s most storied lawns.

On Friday night, there were already some die-hard fans in line, preparing to camp for three nights.

By Saturday evening, the figure had reportedly risen to around 500, the maximum number of tickets available for Centre Court.
