Nick Kyrgios is finally back in action and he's showing the world that he's talented as ever. The Australia pulled off one of his signature tweeners against Maximilian Marterer on Thursday in Stuttgart.

The trick shot landed for a clean winner in the third set, after which Kyrgios would drop just one game in the 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win.

The 23-year-old was playing in his first singles match since Houston, having been sidelined with an elbow injury. The win marked his first in two months as he advances to the Stuttgart quarterfinals. Marterer was coming into the grass-court ATP 250 after a career-best fourth-round showing at the French Open.

Kyrgios' clay-court season tells a very different tale. He bounced from event to event, either playing only doubles or pulling out. In post-match press, he justifiably called it a mess.

After Houston, Kyrgios won the Lyon doubles title on clay with Jack Sock and then pulled out of Roland Garros. He journeyed to Surbiton to play doubles at an ATP Challenger on grass, but lost his opener with Jackson Withrow. This week in Stuttgart, Kyrgios is entered in both singles and doubles.
