On Tuesday, Sloane Stephens cruised into her first Roland Garros semifinal with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Daria Kasatkina. The victory set up an all-American clash between Stephens and Madison Keys.

One person who is very likely kicking himself for missing the chance to witness Stephens' breakthrough from her player box is her brother, Shawn Farrell.

"Well, my brother was supposed to come and he lost his passport at LAX [Los Angeles airport], so that's minus one person. I have three: my mom, my coach, my agent," Stephens said. "There would have been four, but he lost his passport."

Is there any hope of Farrell joining the Stephens team in time for the semifinals?

"No, I wouldn't let him come now. Are you kidding me? He missed his opportunity," Stephens said. "He asks me all the time and I always say no anyway. So the one time I say yes, he loses his passport. That's ridiculous. He's not coming. You're not going to see him. Don't worry."

Ruthless perhaps, but at this stage in the Slam, there's really no reason to mess with a winning formula, or team. Stephens has a 2-0 winning record against her friend, 23-year-old Keys. Stephens last beat her resoundingly in the US Open final for maiden Grand Slam title.

"Obviously it's just another opportunity. It's great for American tennis," Stephens said. "That means one American will be in the final of a French Open, which is another amazing thing. All in all, I don't think anyone can complain."
