Among the first to try the court out were former No. 1 Karolina Pliskova and 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic.

France has a strong number of players in the Roland Garros draws, with Richard Gasquet, Lucas Pouille, Gael Monfils, Gilles Simon, Pierre-Hugues Herbert, Pauline Parmentier and Caroline Garcia all at least reaching the third round.
