This weekend’s titlists, such as Dominic Thiem in Lyon and Johanna Larsson in Nurnberg, will look to replicate the feats of these players who’ve kept their momentum running through Paris.

Widely regarded as the workhorse of his generation, Davydenko went from the semifinals of the Hamburg Masters event to a title-winning run in St. Poelten, Austria, to the semis of the French Open in a four-week stretch.

Lindsay Davenport, Strasbourg 1996

The future Hall of Famer reached the round of 16 at the French Open for the first time in 1995. A year later, she advanced to her fourth career Grand Slam quarterfinal, fresh off winning the title in Strasbourg.

The Aussies backed up their Strasbourg title with a run to the French Open women’s doubles final.

Anabel Medina Garrigues, Strasbourg 2008

The Spaniard enjoyed a bit of crossover success: After winning the title in Strasbourg for the third time in her career, she went on to capture her first career doubles title at a major with countrywoman Virginia Ruano Pascual.
