Alexander Zverev wasn't instantly the most promising Next Gen player on tour. He started, like almost every other player, competing on the ITF Pro Circuit and ATP Challenger Tour.

The German only won two titles in 25 tournaments, first an ATP Challenger in Braunschweig and then in Heilbronn, Germany. Both were the foundation for his monumental success today, helping him break into the Top 100 in May 2015.

"I have great memories there," Zverev said about Heilbronn. "I think it was very important and even though it was a few years ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday."

As a 17-year-old, the phenom won his first ATP Challenger over Paul-Henri Mathieu in 2014.

Even though he refers to his Heilbronn title as the last Challenger he ever played, the 21-year-old would compete in one more before moving over to the ATP Tour for good.

Zverev is now well established as the No. 3 player in the world. He is the No. 2 seed at Roland Garros and takes on Ricardas Berankis in his first match.
